During the Doctoral and Graduate Students’ Council Plenary meeting on October 18, 2019, the DSC unanimously adopted a “Resolution Opposing Penalty for Course Changes.” In addition to tuition charges for dropping courses once the semester has begun, Graduate Center students are also charged a Program Adjustment Fee for making changes to their schedule after the start of the semester, and the DSC is deeply concerned about the undue burden this places on students.

With this resolution, the DSC is demanding that the Graduate Center and CUNY administration begin taking steps to eliminate these oppressive fees. Given that in March 2019 the DSC adopted a resolution opposing course drop fees, DSC representatives are also discussing the possibility of taking further action to highlight the seriousness of the issue and communicate their demands.
