The Doctoral Students’ Council passed a resolution calling for a tuition freeze for the next academic year. This follows a similar vote by CUNY’s University Student Senate at their Plenary meeting on September 25 2016. The CUNY Board of Trustees will consider increasing tuition at their upcoming meeting on October 26 2016.

The Council resolved to:

“continue to reject any extension of the “Rational” Tuition Plan or increases in tuition; continuation of the freeze on tuition increases at the current 2016-2017 rates; and demand the State Legislature and Governor Andrew M. Cuomo adequately fund the increasing mandatory cost within CUNY as part of the maintenance of effort.”
