As was announced during plenary last Friday, on November 2nd President Chase Robinson will be holding a community meeting.

In order to prepare for this meeting, the committee for Student Life and Services is organizing a town hall on Friday, October 27th, at 4:30 PM in room 5414, in partnership with the Adjunct Project (other groups are welcome to join as organizers and co-sponsors).

We want to make sure that at least the most common and most urgent issues that students are faced with will be discussed in the public meeting with Pres. Robinson, and have as many students as possible participate in the meeting.

Please help us promote this town hall! We offer a few suggestions below on how to do this.

  • Promote the event through both email and paper ( design posters or flyers that catch the attention of students, mentioning the most immediate concerns of our constituents that we are aware of)
  • Use the shared spaces that students usually gather in such as department lounges. Reps can choose certain times that they think their lounge is most crowded to use the space for holding a public meeting with students and tell them about the importance of the event
  • Address the concerns of specific communities (LGBT, students who have been affected by the travel ban, those concerned with tuition fees, …) and urge everyone to participate in the meeting
  • List concerns and demands, and send these to the committee for student life and services (at least 24h) before the town hall, so that the committee can integrate the demands and present them to all town hall participants
